2008: Challenges – The Naming Conventions Challenge

namingchallenge Hey, I finished one challenge, that frees me up for at *least* two more, right?

In Maria’s Naming Conventions Challenge, you choose books to read based on the letters in your first name.  There are three tracts, and you can do any or all of them.  They are:

  1. Authors whose last name begins with the letter.
  2. Authors whose first name begins with the letter.
  3. Book titles that begin with the letter.

I’m going to do all three, but only because I can use books that I’m reading for other challenges!  Here are my picks:

Last Updated: 2/15/09

Tract 1: Author Last Name

J: Juster, Norton – The Phantom Tollbooth

A: Atwood, Margaret – The Handmaid’s Tale

I: Iles, Greg – Third Degree

M: Moran, Michelle – Nefertiti

E: Evanovich, Janet – Plum Spooky

Tract 2: Author First Name

J: Joanne Fluke – Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder

A: Allison Brennan – The Prey

I: Ian McEwan – Saturday

M: Mark Haddon – The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

E: E.L. Konigsburg – From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

Tract 3: Book Title

J: Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte

A: Any Given Doomsday – Lori Handeland

I: I’m Watching You – Mary Burton

M: Matrimony – Joshua Henkin

E: Eclipse – Richard North Patterson

This challenge doesn’t start until September 1, and it goes for one month per each letter in your name, so for me it ends February 1, 2009.

I’m glad you wanted to join in! I have only read three of the books on your list (Jane Eyre, Life of Pi and The Handmaid’s Tale) but enjoyed them all, so I hope you will too. Looking forward to hearing what you think of “The Curious Incident…” – it’s on my to-read list as well.
