2009: #4 – Kopek the Destroyer (Phil Owens)

kopek Book #4 was Kopek the Destroyer: Causes of Indigestion for a Wolfy Puppy by Phil Owens. The back of the book reads:

Phil and the wife somehow fill their recently renovated new house with animals. They start with two rabbits, they then acquire a guinea pig, next along comes Tim, their grouchy 15 year old Border collie. After two more rabbits, they somehow end up owning a cat.
When Tim goes to the great field in the sky, They decide to get a puppy. Phil has had dogs all his life, but they were in the main, older rescue dogs, and the wife’s experience was limited to Tim. A puppy is a new experience for both of them, and an experience it certainly turns out to be.
There are plenty of incidents to cope with as their new puppy grows up, many of which contribute to the slow deterioration of their newly renovated home.

I accepted this book for review during my moratorium on accepting books for review for one reason: the wolfy puppy.  You see, once upon a time I had a wolfy puppy of my own.  Her name was Dusty, and she was half German Shepherd, half Timber Wolf, and all stupid. And a lot of the pictures of Kopek included in this book could have been my very own dog, which made me very happy and nostalgic. The tone of this book is very conversational (even if he does slip into tangents a bit too often), and I really liked reading about Kopek’s adventures.  If you like dogs, especially chewy, mischievous ones, I think you’ll like this too. It’s a short, light read, and just the thing to put a smile on your face.

    Hi Jaime,
Many thanks for your kind review of my book, I’m afraid tangents are a specialty of mine.

If you, or anyone would like to see more pictures of Kopek and friends, they are available on my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21328631@N02/

    Kindest Regards

What a neat book! So let me ask, are you still accepting books for review?

  4. jaime says:

I am! Probably too often, as I have a giant pile I still need to read. I’m generally not accepting anything at the moment unless I think it looks really interesting.

    Hi Jamie,

I’ve finally got around to setting up a website for my book. Could you possibly change the url link to http://www.kopek-publishing.com. Visitors can now preview the first chapter and purchase the book through PayPal.

    Many thanks

    Phil
