Book #8 was Tokyo Woes by Bruce Jay Friedman.  The back of the book reads: Driving out one morning to get the newspaper, Mike Halsey is dismayed to find that the Redneck Deli is closed. So is the diner. It is clear that Mike has only one choice left — he drives to the airport and books himself onto a flight to Japan. What follows
