2005: #74 – Hornet Flight (Ken Follett)

December 15, 2005January 15, 2021

Book #74 was Hornet Flight, by Ken Follett. Ken Follett is one of those authors I wish I’d discovered earlier. His books are so engaging that you hardly notice how far along you are in it. The last two I’ve read (this one and Jackdaws) were set in WW2, which probably makes me enjoy them a little bit more. It’s been one of my favorite

2005: #71 – Secret Prey (John Sandford)

October 31, 2005January 15, 2021

Book #71 was Secret Prey, the 9th book in John Sandford’s Lucas Davenport series. Why another Sanford book so soon? Well, they were both part of a larger book. This one was much like the last, and filled in a lot of blanks in the larger story for me. Book count: 71 Pages in book: 384 Page count: 25,576 15,000 page goal reached 6/14/05! 50

2005: #70 – Sudden Prey (John Sandford)

October 25, 2005January 15, 2021

Book #70 was Sudden Prey, the 8th book in John Sandford’s Lucas Davenport series. I’ve read these books out of order, so I kind of figured out how it was going to end. Still liked it, though! Y’know, I was really cruising along earlier in the year, but now I’m not sure I’m going to reach 100 books by the end. Book count: 70 Pages

2005: #69 – Charleston (John Jakes)

October 25, 2005January 15, 2021

Book #69 was Charleston, by John Jakes. I so enjoy John Jakes. And I got an extra tickle from this one because he refers to a few of his other books in it. Book count: 69 Pages in book: 532 Page count: 24,802 15,000 page goal reached 6/14/05! 50 book goal reached 7/19/05!

I really liked the heart of this book. I loved April and her unapologetic geekiness, and I liked what Dade has to say about body positivity, and that she wrote a male protagonist that walks the talk. What I wasn’t expecting was just how detailed into the fanfiction subculture this was going to go. It’s one of the few times I’ve started a book and
