2007: #121 – Mallorys Oracle (Carol OConnell)

13794205 Book #121 was Mallory’s Oracle, the first book in Carol O’Connell’s Kathleen Mallory series.  The back of the book reads:

Kathleen Mallory, an extraordinary wild child turned New York City detective, is propelled onto the street when her adoptive father–a police inspector–is found stabbed to death next to the body of a wealthy woman. The murders are linked to two homicides her father had been investigating and now his cases become Mallory’s, his death her cause.

I didn’t fall in love with this series. There’s no doubt that Mallory is an interesting lead character, but you don’t get any chance to really get inside her head and get to know her. I felt more of a connection to Charles than I did with her. The mystery itself is interesting, but I have to admit my eyes glazed over a bit with all the financial talk. I have one other book in this series I’ll probably read, but I won’t go out of my way to seek out more.

Wow, you’ve got a gorgeous blog, I just had to come on here and comment on that. I’m not a big fan of financial talk in my books so I doubt I’d pick this up to read but I’m going to have a look around your blog and read what you’ve been reading, definitely looks like some great stuff!
