2006: #3 – Lost Innocents (Patricia MacDonald)

January 12, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #3 was Lost Innocents, by Patricia MacDonald. This wasn’t a bad little suspense book. The only thing that sort of bothered me about it was that an awful lot of characters were introduced. Sometimes I had problems figuring out how they fit into the story. However, it was a good quick read, and I needed that after the last book. Book count: 3 Pages

2006: #2 – Cyclops (Clive Cussler)

January 11, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #2 of 2006 was Cyclops, the 8th book in Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt series. I wasn’t thrilled with this installment. For me, it was more Tom Clancy than Clive Cussler. Too much politics, not enough adventure! And it was missing that special brand of humor that usually peppers a Cussler novel. I was quite blah about it. Book count: 2 Pages in book: 473

2005: #76 – We Need To Talk About Kevin (Lionel Shriver)

January 2, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #76 was We Need To Talk About Kevin, by Lionel Shriver. I really wasn’t expecting much when I picked up this book for $4 at the book fair. Man, was I wrong. This book was extremely captivating. At first, I was concerned that the narrator’s language was way too flowery and extravagant, but once you got to know her a little, you realized that

I really liked the heart of this book. I loved April and her unapologetic geekiness, and I liked what Dade has to say about body positivity, and that she wrote a male protagonist that walks the talk. What I wasn’t expecting was just how detailed into the fanfiction subculture this was going to go. It’s one of the few times I’ve started a book and
