2006: #7 – Whiteout (Ken Follett)

January 26, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #7 of 2006 was Whiteout, by Ken Follett. I just can’t say enough about Ken Follett. Unfortunately, this is the last book of his I currently have! I am just immediately engrossed in his books, before the first chapter is even done. I actually spent over 3 hours last night reading (during American Idol!), I was so interested. This is the first of his

2006: #6 – The Rule of Four (Ian Caldwell & Dustin Thomason)

January 24, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #6 was The Rule of Four, by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason. Good book! I was a little skeptical, because there was a lot of buzz about this book, comparing it to The Da Vinci Code, but I was pleased with it. The only real comparison I saw was that it deals with art and such in the Renaissance. My only complaint is that

2006: #3 – Lost Innocents (Patricia MacDonald)

January 12, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #3 was Lost Innocents, by Patricia MacDonald. This wasn’t a bad little suspense book. The only thing that sort of bothered me about it was that an awful lot of characters were introduced. Sometimes I had problems figuring out how they fit into the story. However, it was a good quick read, and I needed that after the last book. Book count: 3 Pages

2006: #2 – Cyclops (Clive Cussler)

January 11, 2006January 15, 2021

Book #2 of 2006 was Cyclops, the 8th book in Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt series. I wasn’t thrilled with this installment. For me, it was more Tom Clancy than Clive Cussler. Too much politics, not enough adventure! And it was missing that special brand of humor that usually peppers a Cussler novel. I was quite blah about it. Book count: 2 Pages in book: 473

I really liked the heart of this book. I loved April and her unapologetic geekiness, and I liked what Dade has to say about body positivity, and that she wrote a male protagonist that walks the talk. What I wasn’t expecting was just how detailed into the fanfiction subculture this was going to go. It’s one of the few times I’ve started a book and
