2021: #32 – A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Diana Gabaldon)

It’s been many years since I read the 5th book in this series, which I remember struggling with, so I’d forgotten that Diana Gabaldon is really great at what she does. This part of the series covers the years right before the Revolutionary War, so you have politics mixed in with the art of living in the mountains of North Carolina in the late 1700s.

2018: #23 – One of Us is Lying (Karen M. McManus)

I thought this was really great, which should be evident by how quickly I read it (3 days). It starts out with five students serving detention one evening, but then one of them dies in a way that can’t quite be accidental. The characters start out rooted in their stereotypes — the smart one, the pretty one, the bad boy, the jock, and the outcast.
